Thursday Thirteen #6: Favorite Big 12 Memories

This coming Saturday is the Big 12 Championship in Arlington, TX featuring Oklahoma and Nebraska.  In honor of this historical event between two historical teams, here are my favorite 13 memories of Oklahoma football in the Big 12 Conference.

1. January 3, 2001 - Oklahoma 13, Florida State 2

OU endzone, left of the uprights, four rows behind the Pride...my brother and I.

2.  October 7, 2000 - Oklahoma 63, Texas 14

First OU/Texas game, cold, rainy...President Boren canceled class the following Monday.

"Like cattle that go down in the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest." - Isaiah 63:14

3.  October 28, 2000 - Oklahoma 31, Nebraska 14

The picture speaks for itself.

4.  September 1, 2001 - Oklahoma 44, Air Force 3

His name is Jeff Ferguson.  Start at 2 min 30 sec and watch until 3 min. You'll see what I'm talking about.

5.  October 6, 2001 - Oklahoma 14, Texas 3

Soon after, he was nicknamed Superman.

The picture is terrific, but it is so much better in motion...

6.  October 11, 2003 - Oklahoma 65, Texas 13

Jason White, Tommie Harris, Mark Clayton among others...oh yeah, Vince Young's Frosh year.

7.  November 8, 2003 - Oklahoma 77, Texas A&M 0

The epitome of "no mercy."

8.  September 4, 2004 - Oklahoma 40, Bowling Green 24

First game of the season, first game of his career, he can run All Day.

9.  August 3, 2006

In order to keep a tree healthy, the branches that do not bear fruit need to be cut off.

10.  September 1, 2007 - Oklahoma 79, North Texas 10

The Oklahoma debut of Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray...'nuff said.

 11.  2008 Season

Sam Bradford wins the Heisman, OU scores 50+ points in 9 of 14 games with 5 consecutive 60+ points scored.

12.  November 27, 2010 - Oklahoma 47, Oklahoma State 41

Oklahoma's 8th consecutive win against the Cowboys.

13.  December 4, 2010 - Oklahoma 23,  Nebraska 20

Oklahoma beats longtime rival Nebraska for 7th Big 12 championship, most all-time and very last one.
